Frequently Asked Questions

How does this plagiarism checker work?

We split your text into ~10-word phrases and search the live web for each as an exact match. If a phrase already appears on an indexed page, we list the matching URL — that's likely the original source.

Is my text stored?

No. We send phrases to a search index to look for matches, then discard them. Nothing is saved to a database, account, or training set.

How accurate is it?

A matched phrase is high-confidence — the exact 10-word string was found on that URL. A clean result means none of the sampled phrases were found verbatim; lightly paraphrased copy may still slip through, like with any free tool.

What's a good plagiarism score?

Under 10% is fine for most original writing (common phrases will occasionally match). 10–30% means several passages are duplicated and need rewriting. Over 30% is heavy copying — replace before publishing.

Does Google penalize duplicate content?

Google doesn't issue a 'duplicate-content penalty', but identical text causes Google to pick one canonical URL and bury the others. Original content always ranks better.
